- MoD Abbey Wood (South), Bristol. There is also the ability to regularly WFH, with approximately 60% of time Office or a Naval Nuclear Propulsion site, therefore this is not a Home Working role.

**Job summary**:
This challenging opportunity has become available in the Nuclear Weapons Programme (NWP) that is focused on AWE Aldermaston but extends across various UK sites and all Life Cycle Phases (LCP) of the Nuclear Weapons Programme, from Design, to manufacture, transport and at sea during operational deployment. Regulation of the Replacement Warhead Programme (RWP) includes the nuclear weapon Approval & Design Authorities (ADA). This is comprised of the MOD, DNO Approval Authority and the AWE Design Authority. The regulatory conditions on ADA cover ‘cradle to grave’ aspects including: concept, design, modifications, assembly, disassembly, processing, storage, handling of weapons ashore and the operational deployment of weapons onboard submarines. Inspector Replacement Warhead, alongside the ADA regulatory team, will lead the regulation of the intrinsic safety of Replacement Warhead (RW) and the provision of information to the nuclear weapon life-cycle Authorises

This captivating new role will give you the ability to develop your skills within Nuclear Safety Regulation and general Nuclear Safety technical fields. You will be part of a small team focusing on RW, thereby working closely with ADA colleagues, whilst leading on your own areas of responsibilities.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

**Job description**:
You will form part of the DNSR Inspector team for Nuclear Weapons and will supporting the Principle Inspector for Nuclear Weapons; carrying out inspection, assessment and permissioning activities to assure compliance with the Authorisation Conditions listed in DSA.02-DNSR.

You will have delegated regulatory authority from the Principle Inspector for the following:

- Seek assurance of compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Approve/agree nuclear safety submissions and safety management arrangements.
- Offer formal regulatory advice to Authorisee’s representatives.
- Direct the postponement or cessation of specified activity if safety standards have been or are likely to be compromised to an unacceptable degree.
- Assess the demonstration of nuclear emergency arrangements.
- The granting or withholding of permission for activities in the NWP which may present a nuclear or radiological hazard.
- Co-operate closely with relevant staff from other MOD and statutory regulators

This role will provide you with the chance to work on a wide range of nuclear projects over a range of Authorised Sites, directly influencing the DNE within all areas of the CADMID cycle. You will also have significant opportunity to develop your skills within Nuclear Safety Regulation and general nuclear safety technical fields.

**Your main responsibilities will involve**:
To regulate nuclear and radiological safety as specified in Letters of Delegated Regulatory Authority and in accordance with the DNSR Regulatory Management System.
- Support to Principle Inspector in leading and influencing nuclear safety across the Authorised activities in support of the DNE, through providing regulatory advice and guidance to the Authorisee (NFC 1.1).
- Conduct inspections of the Authorisees arrangements against defence regulations and support the Authorisee in demonstrating sustained compliance of safe nuclear operations (NFC 1.5).
- To assist and provide briefs for other DNSR Principal Inspectors, NWR and DNSR Head as required (NFC 1.5).

**Policy**
- To align with and enforce DSA regulatory policy and contribute to its continuous development.

**Meetings**
- You will be expected to represent DNSR at various meetings and attend Regulatory Interface Forums in the Nuclear Weapons Programme.
- You will support the Principle Inspector at Quarterly / Termly Progress Meetings and are expected to draft a section of the DNSR Annual Report pertinent to your area of responsibility.

**Emergency Task**
- Support DNSR in the event of a DNE emergency and during DNE emergency exercises. (NCF 3.1, 3.2, 3.3)
