**JOB TITLE**: Support Worker
**LOCATION**:Petty Pool Vocational College, Pool Lane, Sandiway, Cheshire, CW8 2DR.
**REPORTS TO**: Petty Pool in the Community Manager
**SALARY**:£22,276.80 - £24,113.12 per annum
**HOURS**:35 hours per week
- Flexible working will be required with some evening and weekend availability.
**Summary of duties and responsibilities**
- Bring experience and understanding of working with individuals with autism, mental health needs, and learning disabilities, including supporting low level behaviours of concern with empathy and consistency.
- Actively support members in a positive, person centred and empowering manner. Upholding values of respect, choice, independence, inclusion, equal opportunities, and privacy at all times.
- Promote independence and resilience by enabling members to take positive risks and engage in new experiences, helping them build life skills and confidence in community settings.
- Take responsibility for contributing to and adhering to all relevant risk assessments, prioritising the safety and wellbeing of both members and staff while encouraging safe exploration and autonomy.
- Follow and contribute to session plans and activities developed by Lead Support Workers and the Petty Pool in the Community Coordinator, ensuring sessions remain dynamic, inclusive and member led.
- Drive Petty Pool vehicles, including minibuses (where applicable), to support external activities and community engagement.
- Maintain a calm, flexible and solution focused approach in challenging situations, demonstrating emotional resilience and professionalism.
- Be approachable, proactive, and engaging, building trusting relationships with members and colleagues alike.
- Demonstrate a consistently positive and enthusiastic attitude, using strong influencing and motivational skills to encourage member participation and progress.
- Work flexibly, confidently supporting members in both 1:1 and group settings, adapting your approach to suit individual needs and contexts.
- Actively contribute to the planning, delivery and evaluation of daily activities, taking initiative and using professional judgment to enhance the member experience.
- Support members with communication needs foster social connections and help them to develop meaningful relationships with peers and the wider community.
- Assist the Lead Support Worker in creating and maintaining a stimulating, progressive, and enabling environment where all members can thrive.
- Support members to develop social and interpersonal skills, including communication, conflict resolution and self advocacy.
- Provide First Aid where necessary (training will be provided).
- Accurately report and log incidents in line with organisational procedures, contributing to a clear record that supports reflective practice and appropriate interventions.
- Complete clear and concise records and reports following each session, documenting progress, engagement, challenges, and any observations that may inform future planning or support strategies
- Adhere to all safeguarding and Prevent policies, maintaining a vigilant, proactive approach to protecting the safety and welfare of all members.
- Demonstrate integrity and maintain strict confidentiality in all matters concerning members and their support.
- Collaborate effectively with other staff, sharing best practice, learning, and ideas to enhance the support provided.
- Take ownership of your professional development, participating in ongoing training as required by the organisation.
- Show flexibility and adaptability in response to changing duties, member needs, or service circumstances.
- Undertake any additional duties as reasonably required to meet the evolving needs of the service and the individuals supported.
NOTE: In accordance with the Petty Pool’s flexibility policy, the post holder will be required to undertake any other duties considered commensurate with this position, as directed by The Senior Management Team of Petty Pool, or as a mutually agreed developmental opportunity.
**Essential**

- Full clean Driving Licence (Car) and willingness to drive Petty Pool vehicles
- Transporting members on a regular basis
**Desirable**
- Experience in Travel training
- Hold or be working towards a Learning Support qualification
- Hold or be working towards a Basic First Aid Certificate
- Experience of people with learning disabilities
- Experience of working within Further Education
- English and Maths GCSE or equivalent at grade C or above
- A willingness to develop skills in particular areas of disability
- Knowledge of Inclusion, Equality & Diversity, Safeguarding policy
