**Job description**:
The government’s manifesto contains commitments, including investment, to improve transport infrastructure across the country, this is an incredibly exciting time to work for the Department.

The Department has a wide and varied agenda ranging from the delivery of large infrastructure projects such as Crossrail and HS2 through to shaping future transport innovations such as drones and driverless cars as well as developing airport capacity. The Group Commercial Directorate sits at the heart of delivery ensuring commercial acumen and procurement excellence is reflected in all decisions taken.

The Business Support Unit (BSU) is an area within the Group Commercial Directorate that is responsible for the administration and implementation of business-critical activities and delivery support, which aid the Directorate in its coordination of contract and procurement management within the DfT Group. This role will have cross cutting responsibilities across the Business Support Unit, however will be primarily focused on providing PA support to the Commercial Director and other members of the Senior Management Team.

**Person specification**:
**Responsibilities may include but are not limited to**
- Managing the Commercial Director’s calendar, ensuring that he has sufficient sight of future meetings.
- Managing and prioritising the Director’s inbox
- Providing secretariat support to Directorate level meetings
- Providing secretariat support to the Group Commercial Board, including liaising with external stakeholders to convene meetings once every two months
- Support the Continuous Improvement team with stakeholder engagement activities as required.

**About you**

To be successful, you will need to be someone has experience of proving PA support to senior leaders, whilst being able to prioritise your own work and the work of others, even when times are challenging.

You will bring with experience of working senior leaders, being able to work effectively with them to understand their priorities and deliver common goals.

You will have experience of stakeholder engagement and management, being able to build and maintain successful and professional working relationships.

**Additional Information**

Due to the nature of this role there will be some travel involved, this is likely to occur up to once a month and may include overnight stays.

A minimum of 40% of your working time should be spent at your principal workplace, although requirements to attend other locations for official business, or carry out detached duty in another DfT workplace, will also count towards this level of attendance.
