Can you manage financial processes with confidence and clarity?

Do you enjoy collaborating across teams to deliver high-impact outcomes?

Have you got the drive to help shape how a security-focused Directorate operates?

If so, we’d love to hear from you

The Transport Security Directorate (TSD) sits at the heart of the Department for Transport’s mission to keep the UK’s transport systems safe, secure and resilient. We work across government and with industry to protect passengers, staff and infrastructure from a wide range of evolving threats - from cyber risks to physical security challenges.

We’re looking for a motivated and detail-focused Business Support Officer (HEO) to join TSD’s Business Management Team for a fixed term (nine months) as maternity cover. This is a pivotal role that supports the smooth running of the Directorate by managing financial processes, coordinating risk and milestone reporting, and contributing to key corporate exercises.

You’ll work closely with senior leaders and their private offices, gaining insight into how a high-performing, security-focused directorate operates. You’ll also have the autonomy to shape processes, introduce improvements, and help strengthen a modern, resilient business support function.

Joining our department comes with many benefits, including:

- Employer pension contribution of 28.97% of your salary. Read more about Civil Service Pensions here
- 25 days annual leave, increasing by 1 day each year of service (up to a maximum of 30 days annual leave), plus 8 bank holidays a privilege day for the King’s birthday
- Flexible working options where we encourage a great work-life balance.
