** £400 - £450 per week
The Classroom Assistant:
To be eligible for this Classroom Assistant position, you must have experience working as a Classroom Assistant in a mainstream or SEN secondary school. You must be a strong Classroom Assistant capable of managing challenging behaviour and de-escalating situations involving students. You should have a good ability to build a positive rapport with the young people you work with, and have a clear understanding of how to support various SEN.
The Classroom Assistant Role:
As a Classroom Assistant, you will be providing 1:1 Support for lower-level learners, pupils with SEN and those with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour. You will work with the pastoral team to ensure that wellbeing is supported and incidents involving students are correctly resolved. As a Classroom Assistant, you will also provide support in lessons, with academic support and managing behaviour.
The School:
This large secondary school in South Birmingham caters for Ks3 and KS4 pupils with a mixed intake. Behaviour can be challenging, however there is excellent support from the leadership team. The school is looking for a long-term / permanent member of staff for this role. It is rated as ‘Good’ by Ofsted and offers helpful resources and facilities.
