The Classroom Assistant Role:
As a Classroom Assistant, you will primarily be providing 1:1 support for a pupil in Year 5 with SEMH needs. You will need to effectively manage challenging behaviour and assist with emotional regulation. It is important that you approach situationsin a trauma-informed,holistic manner that prioritises the needs of the individual. As a Classroom Assistant, you will also support teaching and learning in the classroom environment, assisting pupils with their learning and managing classroom behaviour throughout lessons.
The Classroom Assistant:
To be eligible for this Classroom Assistant role, you must hold a Level 3 Classroom Assistant qualification, and have extensive experience working with SEN, particularly SEMH needs, ADHD and challenging behaviour. You must have a strong personality and be confidentdealing with difficult situations, as well as being able to provide nurturing support that cultivates a safe, stimulating learning environment.
The School:
This Ofsted ‘Good’ primary school located in Central Birmingham caters for pupils in KS1 and KS2 with a high intake of SEN pupils. There is a high quantity of support staff to support this. The leadership team is incredibly supportive to both pupils and staff,and provides regular training to further professional development.
