Ron Currie and Sons is a family run, local timber merchant supplying both retail and trade customers with a vast range of quality timber and joinery products. In business for over 50 years, we trade both locally from the store and nationally online. We are also a manufacturer of purpose made timber windows, doors, gates and garage doors.

All our employees enjoy a very varied workload from day to day, and we are looking to recruit a new member for our team to work on our trade counter. The counter is the hub of the business and coordinates all the business activities.

The role has two main parts which are:
**TRADE COUNTER ASSISTANT**

This is a customer facing role, dealing with all members of the pubic and trade. The counter staff generally administer and organise all orders that need to be completed by the store assistants. This is a position of responsibility within the business, so the right person must be conscientious, trustworthy and adaptable.
- Serving customers over the counter using our EPOS system.
- Assisting customers with their cutting requirements.
- Lifting and carrying products for customers where needed.
- Ordering products for sale.
- Handling cash and card transactions.
- Processing website orders and organising the relevant couriers for them.
- Organising local deliveries.
- Keeping the counter area tidy.

Beyond the main aspects to the job, sometimes counter staff may be required to assist with warehouse operations during holiday times or busy periods as needed by the business.

**What we want from you**:

- Must have a minimum of a C (or grade 4) in both Maths and English GCSEs.
- Must be conscientious, trustworthy and adaptable.
- Good attention to detail.
- Willingness to learn new things.
- Tape measure proficiency in both Inches and Millimeters would be ideal.
- Some experience in a similar customer facing role would be advantageous, but is by no means essential.

**Your CV**:

- Must include your compulsory education from year 7 onwards with dates.
- List all your GCSEs and A-levels with grades.
- All your time since the end of your compulsory education needs accounting for, i.e., no gaps between dates.

**Trial Period**:
As with most jobs, there is trial period. During this trial, you would be on minimum wage for your age, whilst you are trained and hopefully become proficient in the job. How long this trial lasts is really up to you as once we deem you as competent, the trial period will end. Part of the trial will also be working with the warehouse side to learn and handle the products we sell as this sets you up well for serving on the counter as it will help you identify the products easily.

**Interview process**:
During interview, there will be a test for both your tape measure and general day to day knowledge required for the role. The results of these tests will directly determine if you are interviewed further.

Pay: £28,000.00 per year
