A leading retailer in the West Midlands is looking to take advantage of the burgeoning Pet market by recruiting a Buyer to manage the Buying Strategy for what is one of their fastest growing categories. They are an expanding and award-winning business withheavy investment from the owners and thus it will be a key appointment in their quest to continue their success. The job holder will be office based 2 -3 days per week, with the rest being home based.

**About the role**

Reporting to the Buying Manager, this will be a high-profile role where you will be required to enhance the product range by sourcing new suppliers as well as nurturing the relationships with the current supply base. With a strong far east sourcing background,you will be responsible for range building, NPD and getting exciting and innovative products to the UK market ahead of the competition. You will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to produce promotional plans and joint business plans,with ultimate accountability for margin and profitability of your category.

**About the Person**

This would suit someone with a retail or wholesale Buying background who has strong far east sourcing experience as well as excellent supply base management and negotiation skills. You will have a proven track record of success in driving cost efficienciesand adding value through the identification of commercial opportunities. Ideally, you will have experience in the pet market, however we will consider Buyers with experience in other general merchandise categories such as homewares, seasonal or DIY. We willalso consider FMCG Buying backgrounds. However, it is essential that you will have a collaborative working style, be a confident communicator with ability to influence both internal and external stakeholders.
