Groundwater Technical Officer

East Anglia is the driest part of the country with significant population growth and agricultural water demand therefore water resources are under significance pressure. We also have many internationally important groundwater dependent habitats.- With initially support from colleagues and suitable training, using the information we have available you will interpret geology, groundwater levels and other information to provide a professional technical response.- The Environment Agency take part in incident response. You’ll be encouraged to get involved and support depending on your role and circumstances. Full training will be provided.
- The role is very flexible. We're happy to consider full or part time work patterns.
The team
- East Anglia (East) Groundwater and Contaminated land team covers Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex. They are based in either Norwich or Ipswich (although we do also work from home).
- The team provides specialist advice on Groundwater Quality (monitoring, improvement plans and permits) Contaminated Land (risk assessment and remediation) Waste Technical (engineering and groundwater risk) and Water Resource (technical advice). Experience/skills required
- Essential: You’ll be qualified to at least degree level (or equivalent) in Hydrogeology Geoscience or related discipline.
- It would be helpful, but not essential, if you had experience/knowledge of:
- Hydrogeology;
- Groundwater protection;
- Influencing others and securing commitment from others;
- Excellent communication and presentation skills;
- Proficiency in GIS;
- Multi-dimensional conceptualisation;
- Data handling, time and file management and excellent organisational skills.
- Member of (or working towards) professional body membership
You will be willing to undertake specialist/or further training when necessary.- We do not assess CVs. Answers to the competency questions will be used for interview selection so ensure you draw out your skills and experience in your responses.
