A hospital in the midlands is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Locum Consultant in Acute Internal Medicine to join our dynamic Acute Medical Consultant team. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to work across Acute Medical Units (AMU), Short Stay Units (SSU), Medical SDEC, Virtual Clinics, and our Acute Hospital at Home service (EPICENTRE).

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Clinical Duties**:

- Provide high-quality consultant-led care within AMU, SSU, SDEC, Virtual Clinical, and EPICENTRE services.
- Deliver comprehensive assessment and management of acute medical admissions.
- Participate in Acute Medical care, ensuring safe and effective patient flow.
- Provide expert POCUS skills for patient assessment and diagnostics.
- Offer leadership and supervision of junior medical staff, Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACPs), and trainee ACPs.
- Engage in clinical governance, service innovation, and quality improvement projects.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in line with NHS regulations.

**Education, Research & Innovation**:

- Deliver clinical training and education to junior doctors, medical students, and nursing staff.
- Support the Acute Medicine training program, including hands-on teaching using the UK’s first dedicated AMU Clinical Skills Lab.
- Contribute to clinical audit, research, and service development initiatives.
- Engage in multi-disciplinary education programs to enhance acute medical care.

**Management & Leadership**:

- Play a key role in service development and innovation.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across specialities to optimize patient care.
- Contribute to the governance and operational efficiency of the Acute Medicine department.
- Lead Quality Improvement (QIP) projects to enhance patient outcomes and safety.

**Person Specification**:
**Essential Qualifications & Experience**:

- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
- MRCP (UK) or equivalent.
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Acute Medicine _(or CCT expected within 6 months of interview)._
- Clinical training and experience equivalent to CCT in Acute Medicine.
- Ability to independently manage acute medical emergencies and inpatient care.
- Experience in clinical audit, service evaluation, and quality improvement projects.
- Full GMC Registration & License to Practice.

**Desirable Criteria**:

- SCE in Acute Medicine or a higher degree (MD, PhD, MSc).
- Formal training in medical education.
- Experience in research, service innovation, and published work in peer-reviewed journals.
- Proficiency in the use of IT and digital tools to manage patient flow.
- Specialist interest in a field that complements the existing consultant team.
