About You
You will need a proven track record as Materials Buyer or an Assistant Materials Buyer having developed expertise in delivering best value procurement within construction or residential environment and have sound knowledge of construction products and materials.

Working as part of a multi-discipline project team and reporting to the Divisional Commercial Director the Materials Buyer work is fundamental to our continued viability as a business and presents a fast-moving challenge that will exercise your creativity and commercial flair to the full.
It’s an exciting and challenging role that requires a skilled negotiator, motivated and organised individual, with a strong commercial acumen to manage an efficient material purchasing process and present data to facilitate preparation of budgets.
Whilst the role will be based out of our Coventry office, we have recently adopted a hybrid way of working which typically requires 2 or 3 days a week in the office, with the remainder working from home or attending divisional site meetings.

Key responsibilities
Schedule and quantify material from working drawings.
Understand drawings, specifications and techniques.
Procure materials to the works specification and budget.
Maximise profitability and minimise risk for developments.
Collate issues, receive and review tenders, and return quotations.
Attend review meetings with supply chain and project Operations/ Commercial teams.
Identify and resolve deficiencies in project documentation/ information such as drawings and specifications.
Identify items of financial/ contractual implication and respond appropriately
These are in addition to the core responsibilities of the role.

Must be proficient in using the Microsoft Office suite including Excel, Word and Outlook.
