**Financial Accountant**

The Trust launched with a bang in 1982 by holding a concert at the Royal Albert Hall, with a mission to run music lessons, groups and courses for children in Berkshire. Concerts at the Royal Albert Hall and at many venues across Berkshire became a regularfixture and still are today.

**The Role**

**Primary Job Purpose**:

- To prepare annual budgets and monthly management accounts for senior managers and trustees
- To complete quarterly reporting to the Arts Council on Music Hub funded activities
- To monitor financial information and develop enhanced systems to optimise financial accounting

**Principal Responsibilities**:

- Monthly reconciliation of control accounts ensuring accurate financial data between SpeedAdmin, their sales admin system and finance ledger, payroll data, fixed assets and the ledger.
- Preparation of monthly management accounts for the Board of Trustees and Chief Executive.
- Preparation of tax claims, Gift Aid and Orchestra Tax, ensuring these are processed in a timely manner for income generation.
- The timely completion and submission of VAT and Corporation tax returns.
- To complete financial data as required by the Arts Council or DfE in relation to their funded programmes of activity.
- Completion of Monthly Business Surveys/gathering of relevant information for Office for National Statistics, the Charity Commission or Companies House.
- Preparation of the annual budget in consultation with the Chief Executive and budget holders.
- Manage the preparation of year end accounts and the annual audit ensuring accuracy and relevant deadlines are met.
- Maintain accounts for the trading subsidiary and complete relevant VAT returns.
- Responsibility for maintaining the bank accounts and investments to ensure minimum charges and maximum interest are incurred.
- Analyse financial data, provide financial mapping and generate relevant reports and financial forecasts for senior management and the trustees.
- Preparation and presentation of monthly financial statistics for example pupil numbers, ensemble numbers and staff utilisation.
- Attend meetings of the Board and Financial Committee as required and attend senior leadership team meetings as required.
- Responsibility for generating and maintaining financial policies and procedures and adherence to them.
- Any other duties commensurate with the post that may be assigned by the CEO.
