Age UK Tameside have an exciting opportunity for an **Operations Director** to join the team.
Location: Ashton-under-Lyne
**Salary**: £32,135.17 pro rata (£24,600.57 pa)
Hours: 28 hours per week (working across 4 days per week)
**About Us**:
Age UK Tameside is a local charity that provides vital services to older people in our community. We help them remain independent, active, and well by providing services, activities and touch points that improve quality of life.
We are looking to recruit an Operations Director to join out senior team which is based in Ashton-under-Lyne.
**Operations Director** - Key Responsibilities:
- Customer Services Management
- To lead, coach and supervise our team of Customer Service Assistants
- Supporting, managing and recruiting volunteers
- Managing activities and events including facilities / room hire / transport etc
- Design and distribution of display materials and other general information
- Facilitating and supporting the Charity’s social media marketing, external media, advertising and website
Commercial Giving:
- To establish business enterprises within the charity to generate paid for service income, managing these operations and to maximise profit
- To oversee short term projects and secure grant aid for the continuation and development of these type of these types of projects
- To establish commercial giving income streams including gifts in kind to raise independent funds for the charity
General Management:
- Oversee building maintenance and IT equipment including Health & Safety, Fire Safety and First Aid
- To act as the Information Governance Lead and all matters relating to Data Protection and GDPR
- To work with the CEO to develop the charity’s internal strategy, fulfil its goals and realise its ambitions
- To deputise in the absence of the CEO
Financial Management:
- Work alongside the Charity Accountant to ensure robust financial management systems are in place to manage the income and expenditure of the charity and report these activities to the Finance Sub Committee and Board of Trustees
- Consult with managers and the external payroll provider to ensure staff salaries are accurate and paid in full each month
General Management:
- Establish customer service quality standards, aims, objective and measurable outcomes.
- Act as the Information Governance Lead
- Work with the CEO to develop new grants, commercial funding streams and maximise income from existing income generation initiatives
- Work with the CEO to develop its internal strategy, fulfil its goals and realise its ambitions
- Deputise in the absence of the CEO
**Operations Director** - You:
**Experience**:
- Establishing and maintaining effective internal systems to support back-office operations
- Experience of staff training, coaching, support and supervision
- Understanding of legal frameworks governing the work of a Charity
- Experience of using social media and the website as promotional tools for the work of the Charity
- Overseeing Information Governance procedure and practice
- Developing internal strategy and charity growth development though grants and commercial income generation
- Liaison with external providers including Payroll, HR Auditors and IT providers
Knowledge:
- High Quality Customer Services
- Health and Safety Legislation
- Charity Commission Regulations
- Companies House Regulations
- Data Protection Legislation
- An understanding of back office and front of house functions
- Writing business plans to set up, develop and establish new income generating initiatives
- Networking with commerce and business partners to secure commercial income streams
- Generating new ideas to develop and grow the charity
