Tate are actively recruiting for an Accessible Housing Officer to join our large Public Sector Client within their Housing Strategy & Development department.

The purpose of this role is to improve information and access to wheelchair adapted and other accessible and adapted housing in the social housing sector for disabled people in Brighton & Hove.

**Main Areas of Responsibility**:
**1. To gather applicant data on the housing register to ensure that details of mobility needs are accurately recorded**:
a. Carry out a comprehensive audit of information on the housing register and update the register as required.
b. Gather data from other sources, e.g. Occupational Therapy, Housing Officers, Supporting People and other agencies as appropriate.
c. If necessary, devise and implement a self-assessment form to send to those on the housing register for whom there is missing or incomplete information.
d. Refer applicants for further assessments to the councils medical adviser/Occupational Therapy as required.

**2. To ensure there is accurate data on the extent of accessible and adapted properties in the social housing stock.**
a. Ensure that this data is accurate and up-to-date, by liaising with colleagues in Occupational Therapy and Housing Management.
a. Work with housing associations to ensure that new developments with wheelchair adapted properties are advertised early and targeted effectively.
b. Work with the Sussex Sub-Regional Choice Based Lettings Scheme to ensure that good practice and policy is adopted Sussex-wide.
**Skills required**:

- Knowledge of Social Housing
- Experience of working in a housing service or public contact in a pressurised, consumer-centred environment
- Experience of managing your own caseload and prioritising your workload
- Experience of working with disabled and vulnerable members of the Public
- A good understanding of housing allocations and choice-based lettings
- A good understanding of the social model of disability
- An understanding of the adaptations process and accessible housing
