Paediatric Clinical Educator

An opportunity has arisen to appoint a Band 6 paediatric clinical educator within the paediatric services aligned to the healthy lives/responsive care groups.
The paediatric service adopts an holistic approach to care and quality improvement. Patient safety and service improvement is at the forefront of our philosophy and we seek to recruit nurses who are motivated, have positive change management skills and are effective and proactive leaders.
The post holder will deliver a high standard of education, learning and development across all paediatric services ensuring high quality education is delivered to all staff
The post holder will work in partnership with the senior clinical matron and paediatric matrons and will be responsible for implementing evidence based, patient focused practice. They will work within the clinical areas, working with staff to facilitate the development of skills in order to integrate education and practice development, enhancing quality care delivery from all workforce groups.
The post holder will lead and facilitate audit and research and will function as a role model for staff within the clinical area, enabling and supporting the development of interdisciplinary working, sharing good practice and delivery of high quality, effective and efficient care
Work in partnership with the senior clinical matron, matrons and team leads in the development of department clinical practice, reflecting the care group values.
Develop and implement a mechanism for assessing the baseline clinical skills of staff
Develop effective networks for sharing information expertise and good practice
Analyse, synthesise information from a variety of sources, and make recommendations for the clinical areas

Provide learner support in relation to individual reasonable adjustments relating to learning or health related needs
Respond at directorate level to national initiatives e.g. patient safety alerts, NPSA recommendations, NHSLA/CQC standards, quickly and effectively in a way that is tailored to the needs of the service.
Develop staff through local education, training and development in response to incidents and gap analysis.
Contribute to patient safety through the development of the workforce and by contributing to mandatory training programmes.
Develop practice in line with the service needs and the patient pathways ensuring skilled staff are in the right place at the right time.
Plan and deliver structured and opportunistic teaching in clinical skills for all staff and students as required.
Undertake assessment processes to ensure clinical competencies of students and staff in clinical and simulated environments.
To provide teaching and coaching within the clinical areas.
To develop, test, evaluate and embed innovative teaching methods including scenario based and simulation based teaching activities as and when required.
To adhere to trust policies, procedures and guidelines including Child Protection and Adult Protection.
To work with multi-disciplinary and multi-agency teams in order to ensure patients needs are met.
To contribute to quality improvement within the service.
To assist in clinical audit and the setting and monitoring of standards of care.
To help develop the services available to the unscheduled care population reflecting identified needs.
Maintain accurate and contemporaneous clinical and non-clinical records in compliance with the trust and professional standards.
