A fantastic opportunity to join the Clinical Education team to support and influence workforce development through the provision of high quality education and learning opportunities. The role requires you to work collaboratively with other functions within the Education department and with a range of people from the wider organisation Care Groups and provide clinical and professional support in a variety of learning environments. The post holders knowledge and expertise will ensure the provision of the highest possible standards of education to underpin safe and effective patient care.
To deliver education learning and development across all disciplines ensuring high quality education is delivered to all staff, students and the local population.
To support and facilitate specific service improvement projects to deliver demonstrable and sustainable improvements in quality, safety, cost, staff and patient experience.
Within this role you will be working as part of the Clinical Education team within the Workforce directorate as part of the wider Corporate Care Group. You ill be working within an inclusive and supportive workplace.
1. Respond at directorate level to national initiatives e.g. patient safety alerts, NPSA recommendations, NHSLA/CQC standards, quickly and effectively in a way that is tailored to the needs of the directorate
2. Develop the workforce through local education, training and development in response to incidents and gap analysis
3. Support with development of the local population through provision of training as part of the North Tees & Hartlepool Education Alliance (NTHEA) and the upcoming Health and Care Academy.
4. Contribute to patient safety through the development of the workforce and by contributing to mandatory training programmes
5. Develop practice in line with the directorate needs and the patient pathways ensuring skilled staff are in the right place at the right time
6. Plan and deliver structured and opportunistic teaching in clinical skills for all staff and students as required
7. Undertake assessment processes to ensure clinical competencies of students and staff in clinical and simulated environments
8. To provide teaching and coaching within the clinical areas
9. To develop, test, evaluate and embed innovative teaching methods including scenario based and simulation based teaching activities as and when required
10. To contribute to and support pastoral care for staff and students. Including supporting underperforming staff and students and giving feedback.
11. To act as an educational resource and support for all staff and students
12. To contribute towards the development of teaching skills for clinicians in wards and to develop opportunities for joint training of nursing, medical & allied health students as part of the NHS initiatives to improve patient safety by promoting team working and removing barriers between health care professionals.
13. Contribute on a regular basis to the core provision of education provision throughout the year as directed by the Workforce Development Lead.
14. To continue to develop new/existing programmes of learning for all staff and students in an inter-professional setting.
15. Contribute on a regular basis to the core provision of medical education at undergraduate and postgraduate level as required
16. To contribute to specific Trust wide clinical education and training issues
17. To develop scenario based teaching activities as and when directed
18. To ensure that programmes meet the quality standards of the Trust
19. To evaluate the training provided
20. Act as an educational resource and support
21. Develop and review learning packages and resources to support clinical skills acquisition
22. Provide advice and support relating to education and learning programmes
23. Undertake projects on a variety of topics as and when required which are appropriate to the delivery of an efficient, proactive and high profile E&OD function
24. To ensure staff working within projects are trained and educated in LEAN processes within healthcare to a competent level which will contribute to the success of the project.
25. Assist with the development and implementation of training programmes for all levels of staff in relation to tools and techniques for service improvement projects
26. Follow project plans for the lifespan of the improvement activity ensuring collaborative working within and across professions/disciplines/directorates
27. Assist with the implementation of new ways of working which result from the improvement activity
28. Deputise for the Workforce Development Lead as appropriate
29. Demonstrate commitment to IWL principles and flexible working patterns, to meet the needs of the service and staff.
30. Tackle discrimination and harassment, and promote equality and diversity in the workplace.
31. Reduce sickness absence; work place accidents; and promote zero tolerance on violence against staff.
