What are we looking for?
Our business is rapidly expanding, we are looking for a Conference & Events Porter (Evenings) to join our friendly and driven Hospitality Team.
Whilst experience is great, we are looking for a hard-working individual with a friendly, positive personality and exemplary standards in customer service - the rest we can train you in.
The Conference & Events Porter will typically work in the region of 40 hours a week between the hours of 4pm to midnight and will include bank holidays and weekends.
You must be eligible to work in the UK.
Who are we?
Ten Hill Place is a stylish 129 bedroom hotel, part of Surgeons Quarter in Edinburgh.
Surgeons Quarter is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and has developed its property and facilities to create an integrated hotel, conferencing and events facility within the College campus. The facilities lend themselves to a variety of activities and events including conferences, professional meetings, weddings, exhibitions and social events. Surgeons Quarter manage a large food and beverage operation, which includes management of venue bars, private banqueting and a high street café.
Surgeons Quarter, in conjunction with SpaceUK, operate one of the largest Edinburgh Festival Fringe venues and additionally SQ is an extensive provider of Scottish Evenings.

**Responsibilities**:
Work closely with a team of Hospitality Managers, to complete the set up and breakdown of a range of events, meeting rooms and back of house areas (including kitchens) for events taking place across the SQ campus.
Using event management software, print, read and interpret business sheets to present all SQ spaces in an accurate and timely manner in line with client's expectations and needs.
Accurate and timely recording of all building maintenance issues and property actions to ensure prompt resolution and mínimal impact on customers.
Maintain excellent health, safety and food hygiene practices, in accordance with the policies laid down by SQ. Ensuring that work areas, including kitchens are left clean and tidy.
Always operate safely, to assess and move equipment, furniture and heavy loads across campus and between floors, in line with Manual Handling legislation.
Maintain SQ campus security at all times, ensuring access keys, cards and codes are not shared and any area relating to SQ operations is opened and secured timely pre and post event.
At all times, provide a friendly and professional work environment to both your colleagues and guests both internal and external.
Assist with the movement SQ stores, stock items, small & large equipment, and linen. Ensuring that all SQ campus areas are sufficiently stocked for immediate and future events.
Interpret business sheets and information for immediate day(s) and future weeks to recommend identify any potential issues or equipment needs.
Support SQ festival operations in setting and building F&B outlets, supporting stock movements and bar service, and in derigging all festival areas to return them to business as usual.
When required, support F&B service within Ten Hill Place Hotel and SQ events campus.
Carry out deep cleaning of SQ events spaces, both front and back of house.
Any other reasonable duties as directed by the Hospitality Manager / Assistant Operations Manager Operations Manager.
