Border Force is a Law Enforcement arm of the Home Office with primary responsibility for UK Border Security, including counter terrorism, immigration and customs matters. For more information about working for the Home Office, please visit Home Office Careers website. **Job description**: The Deputy Designated Person Ashore position provides a specialist and central point of contact relating to all Health & Safety, accidents / investigations and fleet sea training requirements. You will be required to implement, assess and feedback on emergency procedures and drills, promoting best practice in emergency response. You will also participate in "unannounced/Port State" type visits, as well as welfare, and International Safety Management (ISM) assurance visits. The post involves frequent travel, and as such is predominantly home based with occasional visits to Portsmouth for briefings/meetings etc. There may be a possibility of international travel. The successful applicant will be required to maintain a "touch down" desk within daily travel of home for IT Support purposes. - Have experience in delivering training, offering constructive feedback and producing performance improvement plans; - Be flexible, adaptive and creative in solving problems and positive when dealing with change; - Must be able to maintain the highest levels of confidentiality have a strong sense of personal ethics and honesty; - Be able to effectively organise and plan; - Be able to deal with conflict confidentially, can demonstrate sound interpersonal, communication and relationship-building skills and thrive working as part of a team. A Full Valid UK Manual Driving Licence is required in this role due to the hours and remote location of the work. This role has a flexible "out of hours on-call" element of approximately one week in four. **Training - NEBOSH General**: As a Health and Safety Superintendent you will undertake the role of Deputy Designated Person Ashore — responding to reports from the fleet, identifying risks to personnel and business, making informed decisions and offering advice. **Responsibilities**: - Act as Lead Auditor for International Safety Management (ISM) purposes; - Sea Training — Design, Implement and Evaluate "Sea Training" serials (emergency drills); - Maintain Continual Professional Development (CPD) membership of a recognised professional Institute - Nautical Institute, Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA), Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST) or Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH); - Provide expert knowledge/assurance to General Maritime, Commercial Vessel Rummage teams; - Undertake visits/audits to all parts of the business (including General Maritime teams) and report findings; - Lead safety drills during sea training visits; - Undertake Accident and Investigation, prepare witness statement, act as "expert witness"; - Handle Safety Management System/updates/Corrective Action Requests. **Essential Criteria** - Must be able to obtain an unrestricted ENG1 medical certificate; - Valid STCW II/1 - Deck Officer of the Watch (Unlimited) or valid STCW III/1 - Engineering Officer of the Watch (Unlimited); - Minimum experien
