As an Environment Protection Officer for Environmental Performance - Geographic, providing regulation & enforcement of a range of environmental legislation including protection of the water environment (controls on point source discharges, engineering, abstractions and impoundments), emissions to air from prescribed processes and the storage, treatment, transfer & disposal of controlled waste. Your role will include:
Handling & responding to a wide range of environmental events & enquiries from the public, business and partners
Assessing compliance against authorisations across a wide range of sectors
- Carrying out site visits, working with businesses, stakeholders and industry bodies to bring about improved environmental performance
Provide advice and guidance & where appropriate initiate enforcement action guided by specialists and policies

This is a highly important role within our Regulation Business & Environment portfolio. The post has been created to allow our Environmental Performance function to deliver environmental protection and improvement, carrying out environmental monitoring to understand the state of Scotland’s environment, informing our regulatory response and assess improvement which means you’ll need:
- A relevant degree or equivalent experience in technical/scientific professional role
To be a team member who thrives in a team environment contributing to the overall performance
A current & full driving licence which allows you to drive in the UK
