**About the role**
The purpose of this role is to make an important contribution to enabling the discovery of the Library and Archives Special Collections. The role will predominantly work on the cataloguing of manuscripts and archival material which includes notebooks, correspondence and mixed media collections, creating new records or enhancing existing records to recognised archival standard so to increase their discoverability for research, teaching and learning.
The post holder will join the Library and Archives Special Collections and Archives Division and will work with other NHM curatorial colleagues in LA and Science where additional understanding and interpretation of the material is required to support data entry.
**About you**
We are looking for an individual with a qualification in or working towards a qualification in Archives and Records Management, or equivalent experience and demonstrable knowledge and experience of arrangement and cataloguing in an archival context, with thorough knowledge of descriptive and authority standards including ISAD(G). You will have proven ability to work as part of a team without supervision, experience of the care of library and archive collections including their conservation and preservation, demonstrate initiative and maintain a consistently high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
