To be responsible for the management and delivering of an efficient booking service for the Cardiac Suite.

Identify the need for extra capacity, communicating this to the Cardiac Suite Manager and working with the wider team to identify this capacity.

To produce clinic letters and documents using the Electronic Patient Record system.

To respond efficiently and effectively to telephone queries from patients and other health care professionals.

To work independently, prioritising and managing own workload quickly and accurately to respond to the needs of the department.

To be a proactive member of the wider Cardiology multi-disciplinary team (MDT) and working together to achieve high standards of patient care.

Covering other administrative duties as required
- Ensuring all examinations are booked in accordance with their priority level in a timely fashion
- Provide a contact and liaison point for written and telephone enquiries on behalf of the Cardiac Suite, from patients, GP’s, nursing staff and other departments within the trust, using judgement to establish the priority of the contact.
- Communicating directly with patients and GP’s with regards to appointments and related information to ensure a rapid and responsive service.
- Using the Electronic Patient Record and cardiology CVIS system to input and retrieve patient information. Placing patients on appropriate treatment plans.
- Liaising with medical records to retrieve all patient notes in a timely fashion.
- Maintain waiting lists and report to the Cardiac Suite Manager.
- Audio-typing Cardiac Suite letters from Bighand dictations.
- Check own work to ensure data quality standards are adhered to.
- Maintain close working relationships with the Cardiac Suite Manager, nursing team, consultant cardiologists and wider Cardiology MDT.
- Comply with the requirements of the Data Protection Act, Access to Health records Act and all legislation relating to confidentiality.
- Work as a team and assist colleagues in providing cover for the work of absent clerical colleagues.
