The role will be part of the Quality team in AWMGS with a specific focus in supporting in the laboratory quality management systems functions as we go through these exciting and challenging times in the service.
Additional requirements will involve supporting the directorate management team with other key service strategic and operational objectives. To achieve this you will work closely with both clinical and laboratory teams which together with the directorate management team form the All Wales Medical Genomics Service.
You must demonstrate the ability and experience to work with a team of multi-discipline professionals, to deliver products of work of high quality, whilst achieving an excellent level of stakeholder satisfaction.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

The All Wales Medical Genomics Service (AWMGS) provides a comprehensive clinical genetics and laboratory service clinical genetics services to the residents of Wales.
Welsh Government and the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee are investing in the All Wales Medical Genomics Service to ensure patient equity across the UK in accessing genetic testing methodologies. The service has seen a significant investment to ensure AWMGS stays in the forefront of genomic medicine and develops the best diagnostic genetic services for patients, this includes:
- Expanding solid tumour diagnostic services
- Enhancing and continuously expanding our haematological malignancy service to provide genetic reporting at the point of diagnosis and during treatment, to inform ongoing treatment decisions
- Developing a rapid Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) service
We will be at the forefront of developing these services in the UK, working with Clinician's and patients' to identify what success looks like as a result of expanded genetic testing in Wales.
