About the Role

The National Flood Forum is recruiting a dedicated and proactive individual to lead an 18-month project focused on improving flood preparedness, response, and recovery in diverse and underserved neighborhood's across Nottingham City.

This is a stand-alone, end-to-end role, where you will take responsibility for delivering the project from initiation through to final evaluation. You will help build trust, strengthen local networks, and ensure that communities who may face barriers to engaging with public services have fair and equal access to vital flood information and support. You will also explore reasons behind underreporting of flooding in certain areas and work with residents to build confidence, knowledge, and connectedness.

**Key Responsibilities**

As the lead officer for this project, you will:

- Oversee the delivery of the full 18-month programme, ensuring milestones and outputs are met.
- Recruit, coordinate, and support Community Ambassadors from a range of cultural and community backgrounds.
- Plan and conduct community needs assessments, surveys, and local research within Nottingham City neighborhood's.
- Develop and distribute accessible flood-risk information, including tailored or translated materials where required.
- Design and deliver community workshops and awareness sessions (e.g., evacuation planning, insurance literacy, emergency preparedness).
- Lead local engagement events, pop-ups, and school outreach activities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with residents, community groups, grassroots organisations, and partner agencies.
- Set up and manage digital communication channels (such as WhatsApp groups) to strengthen inclusion and communication.
- Lead project monitoring and evaluation, including data collection, feedback gathering, and tracking progress against objectives.
- Produce clear case studies, progress updates, and a comprehensive final evaluation report.

**About You**

We are looking for someone who is:

- Passionate about community resilience, wellbeing, and equality.
- Confident communicating with people from diverse cultural, social, and community backgrounds.
- Experienced in community engagement, project delivery, support work, or outreach.
- Highly organised, self-motivated, and capable of leading and managing a project independently.
- A strong communicator, in both writing and conversation.
- Comfortable working in communities that may experience deprivation, marginalisation, or low trust in services.
- Willing to work occasional evenings or weekends for community events.

Desirable:

- Lived experience or strong understanding of diverse or minority community perspectives in Nottingham City.
- Knowledge or interest in flood resilience, emergency preparedness, or public health
