Technical Support Officer

We have an opening for a Technical Support Officer to join our team in Newcastle and be responsible for providing laboratory and curriculum support in Science.
This person will report to the Academic Programme Manager in Science & Engineering and will need to be a self-motivated, independent worker who is also confident pro-actively seeking help from the Academic team.
**Key responsibilities and Duties**:
- To ensure that the physical environment in which students and staff work is prepared for such users.
- To maintain and repair equipment and to prepare materials and resources for classrooms.
- To demonstrate equipment and to assist with the preparation of learning materials.
- To undertake designated Health and safety responsibilities.
- To ensure the provision of a quality service to staff, students and members of the public.
- To set up equipment and ensure that facilities are available.
- To prepare materials and ensure their availability and distribution.
- To be available in laboratories as a resource for staff and students.
- To undertake any health and safety responsibilities with particular reference to COSHH and to ensure safe working practices and safe working environment.
- To report all breakdowns to the Programme Manager of Science and Engineering.
- To report all shortages and deliveries the Programme Manager of Science and Engineering.
- To assist with stock taking activities and ordering equipment, materials, and chemicals when required.
