Our client is looking for an experienced Work Placement Co-Ordinator
Currently Fixed Term, 12-month contract with possibility to become permanent)
Responsible for: Sourcing of traineeship vacancies across North and West Northants Councils. Monitoring of progress and pastoral support for learners on Traineeship opportunities throughout programme and as they progress into Apprenticeship opportunities. Supporting line managers of Trainees as required.
Purpose of the job
- Sourcing work placement opportunities for Traineeships, T-Level industrial placements and school/college/university requests
- Liaising with training providers or educational establishments to fill vacancies sourced
- Tracking and monitoring of work placements to ensure appropriate induction and quick settlement into placement with managerial support being provided as appropriate
- Be the link person between the completion of a Traineeship/Industrial placement/work experience and progression into Apprenticeship opportunities where employment has been secured
- Must have access to transport to be able to travel to various council sites where it is not appropriate to complete meetings via Teams
Principal responsibilities
1) Source opportunities within the council for Traineeships, T-Level Industrial Placements and school/college/university work experience placements
- To regularly meet with the HR recruitment nominees to identify opportunities for Traineeship, T-Levels opportunities to be utilised
- To contact departments directly where vacancies are known (from workforce data reports) to ask them to consider the use of Traineeships, T-Levels
- To respond to school/college/university requests for work experience opportunities as the co-ordinator and liaison person with those schools/colleges/universities
- Liaise with training providers or educational establishments to fill vacancies sourced and with managers to ensure fairness of opportunity is maintained during interview processes
- Following mid-point discussions with managers/mentors to engage with learners, to provide joint feedback with line manager/mentor and discuss next steps upon completion of current placement as best appropriate. (If seen as a good employee but no opportunity within current placement for progression is available at current time, to provide information of where alternative opportunities may be available for them to progress into). Actions and discussions must be formally noted for future reference.
- To host discussions with the learner and line manager/mentor one week prior to completion of programme to action next steps for their progression.
- Maintain database of destination data for future reference by the Apprenticeship team as and when required
