Job Description

**Salary**: £30,000 - £50,000 depending on experience.

Renishaw has committed to an ambitious Net Zero target by 2050. To achieve this, a group sustainability team has been created at Renishaw to transform our greenhouse house emissions and outlook on sustainability in all parts of Renishaw.

In this role you will have the expertise and leadership to work collaboratively with our supply base and the Product Quality, Design and Commercial teams. You will excel at identifying climate change mitigation activities that can be exploited as business opportunities.

You will have a passion for transformation and championing change in this area is essential as well as effective communication and influencing skills. Consequently, you will be adept in reaching out to the wider organisation, promoting the benefits, and driving a positive corporate culture in relation to Sustainability.

An ability to communicate investor, customer requirements, and market trends to design engineers and senior leadership teams will be essential. You will have a proactive outlook on leading and setting the tone for ‘doing business responsibly and sustainably’ at Group level while building valued working relationships with key stakeholders. An enquiring mind will be important to ensure risks are understood and managed at the appropriate level.

**Responsibilities**:

- Support the development of Renishaw’s net zero product strategy, including the development of sustainability metrics to inform business decisions on product design and sourcing.
- Managed activities include:

- Support the development of an LCA data model to enable fast and accurate assessments and relevant metrics to inform business decisions from design/sourcing stage
- Work with Group Engineering and our material scientists to carry out industry benchmarking and advise on new materials, production processes and innovation.
- Identify key enablers and with the product divisions develop circularity plans for their product portfolios, help overcome obstacles and find solutions to complex issues.
- Provide timely reports to the business on progress against agreed scope 3 reduction targets
- Manage 3rd party environmental legislation compliance programmes, WEEE, Battery and Packaging directive compliance.
- Keep ahead of forthcoming legislation and its impact to the business. Advise on ways to mitigate risks and exploit potential opportunities
- Build the capability to report against all current and future Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) requirements
- Support the Sustainability Manager - Value Chain on the development of a programme to embed sustainability in our purchasing teams

Key requirements
- An understanding of life cycle analysis standards and methodologies, with the ability to communicate results and projects to mitigate carbon hot spots
- Ability to develop strong and meaningful relationships with stakeholders, teams and suppliers
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, the ability take technical information and explain them in everyday language
- Good inter-personal skills, with an ability to develop relationships at all levels of the organisation, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Excellent organisational skills with an ability to meet deadlines, while working in a flexible and collaborative way
- An understanding of engineering, manufacturing processes and product design, with a clear understanding of the future trends in industry, an understanding of electronics and optics is highly desired
- Skilled in the use of the MS Officer tools including excellent Excel and PowerPoint
- Demonstrable knowledge of GaBI or similar LCA software is desirable.

They will be pro-active, a completer, highly organised and flexible in their approach to meet the needs of the day-to-day project environment and driven to meet deadlines and achieve targets.
