An exciting opportunity as a Payroll Officer to join a leading organisation, based on the outskirts of York City Centre. A salary of up to £29,500 is on offer alongside an excellent pension scheme, 33 days holiday (including bank holidays) - plus an option to buy or sell days, discount packages at local retailers, health care cash plan, employee assistance programme and more. This role can be working-from-home, hybrid or fully office-based, but you must be able to travel to York on occasion.
This role is initially a 12-month fixed-term contract.
Reporting to the Payroll Team Leader, responsibilities of the successful Payroll Officer will include:
- To support the organisation to deliver a professional payroll service to its employees.
- Responsible for monthly staff payrolls ensuring accurate results are achieved within strict specified deadlines.
- To ensure our Auto Enrolment responsibilities are met and all pension actions are processed in a compliant and timely manner.
- To support the verifying, analysing and paying staff expenses and mileage through the payroll system ensuring the correct completion of P11ds.
We are keen to speak with individuals who have previous experience in a Payroll position or where Payroll is part of your role: you may be a Payroll Assistant or Payroll Officer looking for a new opportunity or a multi-skilled Finance or Accounts Assistant looking to progress your already established Payroll knowledge.
To be successful in this Payroll Officer opportunity you will ideally have/be:
- Previous payroll experience
- Experience of computerised payroll systems, ideally with a rota system
- Knowledge of payroll legislation and tax regulations
- Knowledge of HMRC regulations on employee expenses and benefits including the production of P11ds.
- Confidence in using software such as Microsoft Word and Excel
- Strong organisation skills and the ability to work to prioritise tasks and achieve deadlines
- Positive, friendly, approach with good interpersonal skills and natural desire to offer a good service
This role is easily accessible via car with free parking on-site.
