As an HLTA Inclusion and Literacy at Sir Bernard Lovell Academy, you will play a key role in contributing to the delivery of Futura’s mission statement of “Building the brightest future for all, enabling every individual to flourish”. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about living our values and making a positive impact on all the young people in our Trust.
SBL Academy is a thriving and oversubscribed 11-18 co-educational comprehensive school serving the communities between Bristol and Bath. Our students benefit from high-quality classroom experiences and a broad and varied enrichment programme. Exceptional pastoral and student support is essential to our provision and our SEND Team sits centrally within our approach to student support.
The SEND Team is led by an experienced SENDCO and Deputy SENDCO and currently consists of two HLTA’s and 12 Teaching Assistants. We are a growing team, designed to support a level of need which is reflective of the local and national SEND picture. This post of HLTA Inclusion & Literacy is pivotal to the work of the SEND Team and our contribution to Student Support across the school.
**As HLTA Inclusion and Literacy, you will be responsible for**:
- Coordinating and monitoring the students who access the Learning Support Department during lesson time
- Working with the HLTA interventions and HLTA Transition to develop an extensive suite of diagnostic assessment tools, using results to inform bespoke strategies.
- Supporting the SENDCO with the implementation and review of Individual Alternative Provision Plans
- Work closely with the SENDCO and Literacy Lead to ensure students are supported to access the curriculum.
**What You’ll Bring to Futura**
We are looking for an energetic, innovative HLTA with a passion for supporting young people to flourish and reach their potential. As HLTA you will possess the following:
- **Qualifications**: Good standard of education, 3 GCSE’s Grade C/4 and above. A pass in English is essential.
- **Experience**: Proven experience of working with students both alongside teaching specialists in the classroom, and also leading small group sessions.
- **Skills**: excellent communication, problem-solving and teamwork skills and the ability to engage students with varying types of need.
- Demonstrates a passion for creating a supportive and inclusive environment for all members of our school community.
- Aligns with our trust-wide values by bringing a positive, collaborative approach to their work and a willingness to continuously develop professionally.
