Business Configuration Analyst

This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of the Business Owned change capability in Hiscox UK change team working alongside the technical teams and value streams. Our agile change capability is setup to deliver rapid system enhancements to better meetbusiness need. More specifically this role entails the delivery of technical configuration changes to the Sapiens IDIT (Merlin) system across our underwriting, claims & operational domains.
You will work with the business to define the requirements, identify and analyse the impact of the change on the Sapiens IDIT (Merlin) system, document the user story and configuration requirements and then configure the change in Merlin in the developmentenvironment. You will also have responsibility for testing the change and validating it is production ready. The role will report to the UK Technical Change Lead and work closely with the current technical teams for technical guidance on solutions.
To be successful you will be required to develop strong system & product knowledge to compliment your analysis skills. You will have a natural curiosity about technology, be organised, proactive and an effective collaborator. You will work on a variety ofconcurrent changes so there is a strong emphasis on managing your work-load and time effectively, whilst being responsive to changes in business priority.
**What you'll be doing**
- Build strong productive relationships with the business to create functional requirements that are based on true business need.
- Produce high quality business analyst deliverables such as user stories, acceptance criteria & accurate revisions to existing functional specifications.
- Producing these high quality outputs while working at pace to facilitate a rapid turnaround of value added incremental change.
- Attention to detail on the development and testing of the change are critical
- Identify dependencies between concurrent changes and mitigate the knock on effect of these dependencies to minimise unintended issues.
- Demonstrate problem solving skills to identify the root cause of issues and the most appropriate solution to meet the business need.
- Become a trusted expert on system design, processes and behaviour.
- Become and SME on technical configuration of the Sapiens IDIT (Merlin) system
**Must haves**
- Excellent communication skills with confidence to build strong relationships at all levels of the business, with stakeholders in a variety of locations and time zones
- Analytical approach to work, able to ask the right questions to ensure requirements, rationale and acceptance criteria are well understood
- Willingness to get hands on with technology and a desire to learn
- Able to demonstrate evidence of using analytical skills and data to support decision making
- Can demonstrate ability to prioritise and organise workload in order to meet tight deadlines
- Understands the importance of accuracy and clear documentation of software tests and processes
- Knowledge of commercial and personal lines insurance products
**Nice to have**
- Knowledge of SQL
- Have proven experience of undertaking formal business testing
- Experience of operating within an 'agile' development environment
- Have proven experience of eliciting, documenting and delivering high quality business analysis deliverables.
- Experience of using JIRA
- Knowledge of Sapiens IDIT (Merlin) or another Insurance policy administration system
We are looking for an individual who is highly analytical, driven and detail orientated with a passion for excellent execution. You will need to be articulate and exhibit a track record of good decision making skills, working under pressure and to tightdeadlines, with an ability to quickly understand problems and create and implement solutions.
**Our must haves**:
- Of graduate calibre with at least 3-4 years' experience and proven success in a similar role
- Good general knowledge of programming and statistical tools such as Excel, SQL
- High level of numeric competence and excellent data gathering and manipulation skills
- Strong analytical pragmatic reasoning skills
- An aptitude for innovative problem solving
- Excellent spread sheet skills and data manipulation
- Excellent communication skills with ability to articulate the complex

- Hardworking, curious, passionate, enthusiastic and a self-starter
- Comfortable influencing and communicating across a matrix structure
- Experience of working with Underwriters
**Our nice to haves**:
- Knowledge of programming and statistical tools such as Emblem & SAS
- Good understanding of Commercial Lines and Personal Lines insurance through various distribution channels
- Experience working with third party data suppliers
- Seeking or attained relevant professional qualifications
