An excellent and rewarding job opportunity has arisen for a **Regional Materials Controller **to join Arriva, based in **Thurmaston, Leicester **and covering the **South**.

Reporting to the Regional Engineering Director, The Regional Materials Controller is accountable for ensuring the day-to-day operations of all regional Stores functions are carried out in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner whilst undertaking supervisory/line management responsibilities to Storekeepers.

**Main Responsibilities**:

- Ensure adherence of the UK Storekeepers to working instructions, H&S regulations, quality procedures and environmental systems across the region - Escalating concerns to the Engineering Manager and/or Chief Engineer.
- Inspire continual review, improvement and development of the standard operations, processes and systems.
- Provide line manager supervision to the regional Stores personnel ensuring they control the function effectively in line with their job description and Company standards and processes.
- Monitor stock levels and provide a pro-active approach to ensure that required stock and slow moving/obsolete stocks are dealt with in an efficient and timely manner.
- Undertake activities which support all aspects of the employee life cycle including recruitment and on-boarding, performance management, team development, training & ER.
- Regularly monitor and oversee depot spends and intervene as appropriate to help ensure the function remains in budget.
- Ensure the Stores function are audit-ready and implement improvement plans where necessary. Undertake root cause analysis for depots experiencing challenges and share best practice across the region.
- Supporting the business in line with the BILMOG audit requirements
- To ensure that warranty claims management process is being adhered to by regional depots, delivering a regional warranty management system and keeping the Warranty & Systems Administrator updated with progress made on Warranty claims.
- Contribute to the development of better techniques leading to the effective operation of the stores process.

**Requirements**:

- Driving licence or ability to travel within the region.
- Proven experience within the Stores/Inventory function, preferably with knowledge/experience of the bus industry.
- Good knowledge of Health & Safety polices, practices and procedures.
- Expert level of knowledge on methods of inventory control/management and end to end supply chain. This includes the standard methods and practices used in receiving, storing and issuing materials (COSHH), supplies and equipment.
- Experience and ability to lead and supervise a team - Preferred
- Proactive approach to identifying areas of improvement along with ability to implement continuous improvement plans.
- Ability to communicate and work flexibly with stakeholders in a high-pressure environment.
- Computer literate and able to work with a range of IT systems including MS Office and computerised inventory control/management/software.
- Educated to Level 2 (e.g., GCSE’s or equivalent) or qualified by relevant length of experience.
