Trustee - Social Work Focus

**Purpose of Role**
To contribute to the strong governance of Northern Ireland Hospice, working at a strategic level to ensure that the organisation meets its charitable objectives. To deliver the duties and responsibilities of a Company Director as set out in the Companies Act(s) and those of a Trustee, as required by law and the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland.
**Experience Required**
- Experience of working at a senior management or governance level. This can be in the voluntary, public or private sectors.
- Experience of operating at a strategic level, including strategic planning and development.
- Experience in executive level financial decision making and have a high degree of financial acumen.
- Expertise in customer relationship management and knowledge of digital development and digital transformation strategies.
**Key requirements for the role include: -**
- Supporting professional practice and advising on social work and safeguarding aspects within the organisation and its associated functions and opportunities for developing these.
- Experience of working in a professional senior social work role.
- A knowledge and understanding of key legislation and functions of social work including Safeguarding and the Mental Capacity Act, specifically Deprivation of Liberty.
- Expertise in recognising and analysing trends within social work, including safeguarding and mental capacity act implementations.
- A working knowledge of agencies involved in child/adult protection and safeguarding, their roles and responsibilities.
- Knowledge of ethical, legal, professional and statutory obligations and requirements related to working with the local HSCT’s social work teams and Safeguarding Board for Northern Ireland (SBNI) and other safeguarding agencies.
