**Purpose of Role**
To contribute to the strong governance of Northern Ireland Hospice, working at a strategic level to ensure that the organisation meets its charitable objectives. To deliver the duties and responsibilities of a Company Director as set out in the Companies Act(s) and those of a Trustee, as required by law and the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland.

**Experience Required**
- Experience of working at a senior management or governance level. This can be in the voluntary, public or private sectors.
- Experience of operating at a strategic level, including strategic planning and development.
- Experience in executive level financial decision making and have a high degree of financial acumen.
- Expertise in customer relationship management and knowledge of digital development and digital transformation strategies.

**Key requirements for the role include**:

- To ensure that processes and procedures are in place to deliver high standards of professional, clinical, administrative and personal behaviours across the organisation.
- To contribute to, and ensure the necessary resources are in place to support the development of plans for service development and improvement.
- To ensure that quality controls and systems of risk management are robust and effective.
- To monitor the performance of the Hospice against standards and ensure that it provides quality care, balanced with the effective, efficient and economic use of the Hospice’s resources and assets.
- To attend the Care Quality Committee, a governance sub-group of the Board of Trustees.
- To use their medical knowledge to help the Board of Trustees reach decisions, providing support and guidance to the Medical Lead and wider medical team
