Senior communications advisors play a crucial role in helping Bedfordshire Police protect people and fight crime. They take part in a duty rota, handle media enquiries, write appeals and publish across a variety of internal and external channels in response to key operational and reputational issues.
The role is also responsible for dedicated portfolio areas - supporting our force's and department’s objectives by reaching out to victims and targeting offenders by creating bespoke integrated communications campaigns.
Over the past year we have run campaigns which have reduced knife crime, increased intelligence submissions to record levels and tacked burglary in key areas, as well as leading the creation of flagship multi-agency campaigns such as Bedfordshire Against Violence and Exploitation (BAVEX) and our work on Male Violence Against Women and Girls.
Many of our campaigns benefit from significant budgets to support them, enabling you to create eye catching and highly visible communications work which can make a real impact in our communities.
We are a small force with big challenges and often find ourselves in the national spotlight, so this role would be a perfect opportunity for a communications professional looking to progress their career and make an impact here in Bedfordshire.
Design and video-editing skills would be an advantage.
Internal applicants within Bedfordshire Police, should upload either a CV or a completed ‘Staff internal role summary’ form, which can be found in the vacancy documents below. Please note you will be required to provide a statement no more than 500 words against the entry requirements as stipulated in the role profile.
External applicants should ensure that your current CV is uploaded and provide a statement no more than 500 words against the entry requirements as stipulated in the role profile. To ensure the recruitment process is fair and equal, please do not include personal details on your CV other than your name.
