An exciting full-time opportunity has arisen within Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire’s Scientific Support unit.

The collaborated Forensic Footwear unit delivers 17025 accredited Footwear comparison and analysis services to Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Police. Our trained Footwear experts examine and provide evidential reports on a variety of exhibits retrieved from crime scenes.

The post is based at Kempston Police HQ, and the successful post holder will be part of a team of 4 staff who focus on quality and service delivery in support of policing priorities. We would like to hear from all self-motivated individuals who have good communication skills, a strong eye for detail, and the resilience to keep trying even when faced with challenging and complex situations.

The successful applicant will be able to complete all elements of Footwear Technician role and prepare and present full forensic footwear evidential statements, to include the level of evidential interpretation when required by the Courts, with a supporting forensic evidential case file documenting evidential findings. They will also be required to attend court and deliver evidence in the capacity of an Expert witness as requested and peer review evidential work of other Footwear Experts as per national guidelines.
