Job description

King’s Culture the university’s specialist culture team - brokers, develops and supports a portfolio of distinctive partnerships that support King’s education, research and service strategies, while serving the needs of artists, communities, cultural organisations and cultural policy makers, in London and beyond.

King’s has a range of platforms across its campuses, and digitally, where public-facing events can take place, including exhibitions, events, installations, temporary pop ups, talks and workshops.

The Programme Producer will work across the Culture programme and Strand based platforms, and closely with the Head of Programming (Strand) to deliver a carefully planned schedule of exhibitions and events across platforms which showcase King's content and create meaningful touchpoints for a range of audiences.

This role is responsible for the production of a wide range of programmes, exhibitions, and events. The role requires excellent organisational and communication skills as well as practical hands-on experience in managing and producing small and medium-scale displays, exhibitions, performances, and pop-up events.

Key responsibilities

Producing exhibitions and events:
To work collaboratively with members of the Culture team and across faculties, to project manage and deliver a varied programme of events, exhibitions and activities

Plan and manage project get-ins, production periods, on-going maintenance and get outs for allocated projects
- overseeing permits and Health & Safety

documentation needed for project transport, crewing and coordination.

To provide production support for activities within Strand spaces open to all faculties for creative R&D activity to include workshops, process-led work, test bed activity, pop up exhibitions and events etc.

To liaise with researchers/students/artists and content suppliers to ensure content delivered in agreed format and in timely manner

Maintain equipment lists and equipment linked to the programme including furniture; plinths; tech kit and oversee storage facilities for these

Lead, co-ordinate and attend as required, internal production meetings.

Liaise with King’s Estates and Facilities to ensure that activity in public spaces managed by the directorate is compliant with all relevant legislation and licences.

Provide regular updates to the Head of Programming and lead academics of the progress on projects for which the Producer is responsible.

Act as a Health & Safety representative for the Strand-based Culture teams and the lead for project/exhibition/event documentation - schedules, fire marshal, health & safety documentation and site plans.

Attend internal and external meetings as required, to report on the progress of projects for which the Producer is responsible to inform overall project planning, pre-production, and delivery and to ensure smooth co-ordination of logistics, budgets, and scheduling.

To be available to work events that may fall outside of your working hours.

When required taking the lead on-site, escalating to Head of Programming where appropriate.

Staffing & Coordination

Foster successful working relationships with all internal teams, external contractors, suppliers, agencies and partner organisations to achieve effective service delivery.

To be the day-to-day production liaison with all suppliers including external partners and venues to ensure the best service and the successful delivery for each event.

To plan on-site logistics following and enforcing health & safety procedures and completing Risk Assessment Method Statements (RAMS).

Manage temporary staff that may be required, including ensuring all contract staff are appropriately engaged, rostered, supervised and supported.

Engage, train and manage student mediators for these projects, with the support of a Project Coordinator.

Financial

Work with the Head of Programming & Finance and Administration Officer to manage individual project budgets using King’s templates in keeping with principles of sound financial management including forecasting, running and reconciliation.

Work with the Finance and Administration Officer, to support artists' and organisations’ arrangements for contracting and payment.

Provide timely financial project updates to the Senior Business Manager and Finance and Administration Officer.

Select suppliers in keeping with King’s procurement processes.
