Cambridge Children’s Hospital will be the first dedicated children’s hospital for the East of England. It will be unique in fully integrating mental and physical healthcare under one roof, alongside a world-leading research institute. The hospital, which is a partnership between Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust, Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Trust and the University of Cambridge, has planning permission for a site on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.

As Communications and Engagement officer, you will play a leading role in spreading the word about this unique new hospital. You will work as part of an ambitious team to run a series of exciting engagement activities, including large-scale events and bespoke targeted community workshops.

You will be full of ideas about how to take our social media platforms to the next level, as well as work with children, young people and families to tell their stories. You will work closely with our Press Pack, a group of young people with a passion for making multi-media content and identify opportunities for them to get involved.

You will be able to present complex information in a simple manner, including for press releases and our website news stories. You will have the ability to build excellent contacts with regional media platforms, including TV, radio and online.

- To provide communications and engagement support to the Cambridge Children’s Hospital project, working closely with the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT), Cambridge University (CU) and Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CUH) project and communication teams.
- To help co-ordinate events, engagement opportunities, surveys and briefings to support involvement and co-production in the project.
- To support the management and administration of the Cambridge Children’s Network, ensuring patient and carer members are regularly updated and supported, and the membership database is maintained.
- With support from the Communications and Engagement Manager, help to build the project’s reputation and stakeholder involvement, through proactive media relations, development of compelling case studies, stakeholder engagement and high-quality communications, ensuring a consistent and co-ordinated approach to all communications activity.
- Grow the Children’s Hospital and CPFT’s digital presence, by developing engaging content, and reviewing existing channels to identify opportunities for greater engagement.
- Lived experience or a good understanding of mental health and/or physical health challenges is desirable as the post holder will need to demonstrate a sensitivity to how young people and their families want to be engaged within the project.

- Work with the Communications and Engagement manager to implement the Cambridge Children’s Hospital communications and engagement strategy and operational plans.
- Write engaging articles to promote the project agenda from the technical detail required for project staff to accessible content for the public.
- Support the implementation of communication and engagement campaigns for the project. This will include presenting complex information simply, using a variety of media, to a range of audiences.
- Assist with the organisation, promotion and co-ordination of virtual and face-to-face events.
- Support the production of regular communication materials and briefings to ensure stakeholders and staff are informed and involved on the project’s progress.

Digital
- Contribute to the on-going development of the Cambridge Children’s public website to ensure accurate and timely information is provided to stakeholders and staff.
- Maintain and grow social media accounts, developing proactive and engaging written, visual and video content relevant to the different audiences.
- Evaluate the success of digital campaigns and channels on a regular basis reporting to the Communications team.Events
