**What is The Essex Family Support Service?**

The Essex Family Support Service (EFSS) launched in 2020, works in partnership and collaboration with voluntary and community sector organisations across Essex to deliver this service as part of the wider Essex Child and Family Wellbeing Service. The servicewas able to support 788 people in the first year.

This service provides support to families which include school-aged children and young people aged 8-19 years. This will include families who are not already receiving support from specialist and statutory services such as Emotional Wellbeing Mental HealthService (EWMHS), Social Care and Family Solutions. (For families with children under 8 years, support will be provided by other voluntary organisations).

**The aim of this service is to support families to work towards the following outcomes**:

- Emotionally healthy, happy and resilient - supporting families to develop and retain positive relationships
- Behaviour choices that promote safety and wellbeing - including reduction in participation of risky behaviours
- Socially connected, resilient and resourceful families - supporting people to connect with peers and communities
- Healthy inter-parental/guardian and family relationships - effective communication and conflict resolution

**What can we help with?**

We pride ourselves on giving families the best support we can and signpost to the most up to date and relevant services. Some examples of the things we can help with are:

- Build positive family relationships
- Signposting to relevant services
- Up to 10 weeks family mentoring support
- Completing referrals for families
- Attend TAF meetings (Team Around the Family)
- General advice and guidance
- Find courses and training for parents
- Can link families up with special educational needs and disability (SEND) specific organisations for extra support

**Engagement Officer-Essex Family Support Service**

**(West Essex)**

**| Salary £22,700 - £24,981 Per Annum DOE |**28 days holiday (pro-rata for part-time) plus an extra day’s holiday for your birthday | Five extra days holiday (pro-rata) after five years’ service | Up to three days volunteering per year | Developmentopportunities | Full training and a robust induction |

**Duties (to include but are not limited too)**:

- Supporting families with a child aged 8-19 (25 SEND) in Essex. (Engagement Officers will support in one set Quadrant)
- Providing mentorship, interventions and signposting to families around their needs.
- Meeting programme Key Performance Indicators in line with Service Level Agreement.
- Building relationships and network with partners and organisations in the area.
- Attending meetings to support or present the project and work that is being done.
- Providing data and case studies to support monitoring.
- Supporting families by phone, MS Teams, and face to face.
- Attending outreach sessions including events and activities.
- Creating and holding events and activities across Essex to support children and families.
- Arranging and attending meetings that support the family alongside other professionals.
- Taking part in work meetings such as team and staff meetings.
- Representing the organisation through events, meetings, presentations and outreach.
- Supervising volunteer mentors in set Quadrant through training, 1-1 support and group work to allow them to support families.

**Person Specification**:

- Ability to build strong relationships and work collaboratively with community leaders, local authority, and professionals
- Professional experience of engaging in family support with vulnerable families
- Excellent communication (written, verbal and listening) skills with an ability to write reports and papers
- Good, all round secondary education
- Commitment to self-development and continuing professional development
- A commitment to equal opportunities & an understanding of the impact of deprivation and discrimination on communities, families and individuals
