Vacancy Description

**A brand-new exciting opportunity has come up to work as part of the Council’s Housing Options Team and make a real difference for vulnerable individuals living in temporary accommodation.**

As Financial Inclusion Officer, you will support vulnerable households to manage their budgets by completing an income & expenditure, providing financial advice on budgeting and welfare benefits and signposting them to relevant debt advice services.

You will oversee the Council’s rental income accounts for both historic and current residents of temporary accommodation and support these households to maximise their income and set up affordable repayment plans.

**Main Responsibilities**:
As Financial Inclusion Officer, you will support households living in temporary accommodation to claim the relevant benefits including housing benefit and council tax support. You will work with households to complete an income and expenditure and provide advice and assistance on managing their budget, reducing expenditure and maximising their income.

You will oversee and manage the Council’s rental income accounts (both current and historic) and work with households to ensure that rental payments are made on time and in full.

You will support the Council’s Tenancy Officer with duty by arranging, booking and completing the required paperwork for sign-ups into temporary accommodation.

**About you**:
You would be educated to A ‘Level standard or equivalent, at grades A to C, or equivalent grading, or demonstrable experience of working with vulnerable households.

You would have a good understanding of the welfare benefit system and welfare reform changes.

You would have excellent communication skills and an ability to work as part of a team and develop supportive relationships with colleagues.
