We have a great opportunity to join the our Regulatory Affairs Team on a fixed term contract basis to cover maternity leave.
Job Purpose
- To contribute to the company’s overall strategy through the provision of an ‘independent’ department that assures the legal and safety compliance of all McBride’s manufactured products.
- To discharge these duties, the Regulatory Affairs Officer must have expert knowledge of the Regulations and external accreditation schemes that impact the detergents sector and ensure any developments in these areas (or new regulations) are incorporated into business-as-usual operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Main contact point between McBride and the ecolabel competent body, coordinating actions internally in response to feedback and participating in compliance audits.
- Perform impact assessments where new information (legislative developments / proposed criteria revisions) may result in non-compliance of existing portfolio, develop action plans with relevant stakeholders to ensure continuity of product supply.
- To be the technical expert for ecolabel scheme requirements, providing guidance and training to the business as required, and responding to external customer queries.
- Work on Regulatory Affairs projects to monitor and implement new legislative requirements across the business, according to legal timeframes.
- To represent the company at trade association meetings and contribute to industry discussions on developing legislation.
- To attend seminars/ conferences/ meetings as appropriate to ensure up-to-date information is available and circulated within Regulatory Affairs and the wider business.
Key Areas
- Appropriate information systems, processes & procedures are in place to ensure all McBride manufactured products comply with applicable National and EU/UK legislation.
- Implementation of new legislative within required timeframe and at mínimal cost to McBride.
- McBride position is represented, protected, and considered in development of new legislation that impacts our business.
- Regulatory Affairs is considered technical experts in all appropriate aspects of legislation.
- Ecolabel scheme submissions are made in a timely manner to support Liquids and Unit dose strategies.
- No product recalls or audit fails due to incorrect procedures, guidelines or regulatory support provided.
- All decisions clearly and transparently documented for audit
- Ability to communicate complex technical / legal matters in an explicit and comprehensive way.
- Ability to demonstrate the McBride principles.
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining accuracy to meet business service.

Technical Competencies
- A degree or equivalent, preferably in a biological science, chemistry or law
- Experience in at least one technical aspect of consumer goods manufacture or product development, preferred.
- 1-2 years’ experience in one or more of the following regulations CLP, REACh, BPR, Detergent Regulation, Ecolabel scheme compliance.
- Ability to develop and to maintain SOP’s.
- Good level of written and spoken English.
- Computer literate - good user knowledge of Word / Excel / PowerPoint. Experience working with SAP is advantageous
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills. Fluency in multiple European languages is advantageous
