We are seeking a highly motivated and mathematically skilled Postdoctoral Research Associate (PDRA) to join Aston University’s interdisciplinary team within the recently established UK Multidisciplinary Centre for Neuromorphic Computing.

The revolutionary project will see scientists use human brain stem cell clusters (organoids) on microchip arrays to push the boundaries of neuromorphic capabilities by harnessing the unrivalled power and adaptability of human brain neurons. This Research Associate position will support the project by inferring the processes that take place within a cortical organoid and across organoids, enhancing our theoretical understanding of the emerging information content within the single organoid and across the array, through the development of analytical and modelling tools.

You will contribute to method development, simulation and validation in close collaboration with experimental partners.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Carry out research work, analytically and numerically, jointly with the co-investigator and the project research team in the area of inference, information build-up and learning methods in the general context of the project.
- Validate the developed methods in simulations and in real neuronal devices to evaluate their efficacy and suitability.
- Disseminate research through journals, conferences, and workshops.
- Engage in student supervision and mentoring.

We recognise the value of flexible working. Please contact the recruiting manager to discuss what flexible working options are available for particular roles.
