**About us**
We are a veterinary practice situated in the lovely traditional market town of Barton Upon Humber working with companion animals. The town has a rural feel yet is within close reach of the cities of Hull and Lincoln including various transport links for a quick trip to Europe.

We are RCVS accredited, nurse training practice with excellent facilities. Equipment includes in-house laboratory, x-ray, dental, ultrasound, ECG, blood pressure and multi-parameter anaesthetic monitors.

We provide a range of services including advanced soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery to our long standing and appreciative client base. Most of our vets currently hold or are working towards further advanced qualifications.

**The role**

We are seeking a Patient Care Assistant to join and support our team in providing the highest standards of veterinary care. The role involves working in a variety of areas within the practice to maintain a clean, efficient and effective working environment.

This is a full time position, working 40 hours a week in a friendly supportive environment at our veterinary surgery in Barton Upon Humber.

Roles and Responsibilities:

- Completing tasks assigned by the vet and nurse teams necessary for the efficient running of the practice
- Cleaning of all areas (clinical and non-clinical)
- Tidying and organisation of all areas
- Delivering outstanding client and patient care
- Assisting with restraining animals
- Assisting with the preparation of patients for daily surgical procedures
- Assisting with care of inpatients
- Assisting with laboratory diagnostic techniques to include preparation of equipment, processing samples and packaging for external laboratories
- Cleaning, packaging and sterilisation of surgical equipment
- Reception duties to include answering incoming calls, booking appointments, welcoming owners and their pets in a cheerful, helpful and professional manner, taking payments for treatment and sales
- Maintaining client records, scanning and filling, receiving stock orders, cash handling and daily cashing up
- Calling owners with information (reminders, collection of orders etc.)

**Skills and experience**
Please upload your certificates (not statements) and list your grades on your CV, including Maths, English and a Science. This will ensure a smooth and faster recruitment process.

Required:
5 GCSEs at grade C / 4 or above to include Maths, English Language and a Science and be in possession of examination certificates or Functional Skills level 2 (not entry level).
Alternative qualifications e.g., Veterinary Care Assistant Certificate, Animal Nursing Assistant Award or National Diploma in Animal Care will be accepted when supported with full Level 2 qualifications in Maths and English i.e., Level 2 Functional Skills or GCSE at grade C or above. You will still be required to provide proof of GCSE Maths and English and provide the original certificates.

If you have taken your qualifications abroad, we will require a NARIC comparison.
