Our client is looking for an experienced Pensions Officer.
To provide comprehensive pensions administrative support services to the
Pensions Management Team, including operational support and deputising in the
absence of the Senior Pensions Officer.
To ensure the provision of a high quality pensions service that meets service
standards and complies with statutory regulations. The post holder provides
specialist advice and administrative support on pension issues.
To assist with the establishment of relevant policies, systems and procedures in
conjunction with the Council’s policy and procedures and to ensure the
department complies with them.
To work as part of the pensions team in developing a highly customer focused
and engaged service, whilst working within the Council’s framework of policy and
procedures as led by Government Legislation.
The post holder will deal with more complex casework and take a senior role and
offer guidance and support to less experienced members of the team. They
would also be one of the nominated mentors to new staff. In that role they would
be responsible for all aspects of training and checking of the new member of
staffs work. Mentoring roles will be issued on a rota basis as new staff start within
the section.
At least 2 years experience of office administration.
(Ideally within a Local Government setting).
12 months experience in pensions administration, either in-house,
LGPS or third party.
A general understanding of HR best practice and the Council’s
employment polices and procedures.

Understands the importance of confidentiality in pensions work.
Proficient and accurate keyboard skills.
Proficient computer skills, MS Word, Outlook and Excel essential.
Numerate with ability to monitor and process invoices.
