This role includes the main responsibilities listed below
- Manage departmental human resources and provide appropriate advice to Officers and staff. This will include management of performance, sickness absence, staff training, development and welfare.
Effectively manage the units (traffic administration, camera enforcement and firearms licensing) within the department and the external training requirements and responsibilities linked to these.
Work in close liaison with all areas across the force and other external agencies to develop, implement and evaluate procedural changes within the unit. This includes effective reporting on OPCC plan and other necessary reporting.
Manage the appropriate budget and resources relevant to the unit and monitor and report to the Senior Leadership Team. Ensure the utilisation of resources is effective in order to achieve best value.
Contribute to the development and promotion of corporate and departmental objectives. Prepare relevant papers for the Senior Leadership Team.
Play a key role in the planning and change management process within the department. This will involve the communication, management and implementation of national legislative requirements and local initiatives.
Be responsible for the effective evaluation and reporting of performance management information and identification and development of best practice. This will include the preparation of performance reports.
Represent the department and Constabulary at inter agency meetings or conferences and cascade learning and development as appropriate.
Participate and where appropriate, lead the risk management process including health and safety, business continuity and the development of necessary strategies and plans.
Awareness of policy / procedures in relation to data quality, records management and health and safety. Ensuring the team is kept up to date. Contribute to the development of an IT and Communications infrastructure which supports business processes.
Manage correspondence and disclosure of information relevant to the unit, ensuring a timely and appropriate response.
