Assistant Technical Officer

The post holder will be required to work as a member of the Sterile Services team carrying out duties related to the provision of decontaminated surgical instruments and flexible endoscopes to the Health Board and external customers.
Sterile service staff are required to follow department procedures and work in accordance with the Quality Management System ISO 13485:2016: in order to ensure accreditation to EC Directive 93/42 EEC.
The post holder is required to assist in providing a quality service through the preparation, disinfection, production and sterilisation of reusable medical device.
Understand and interpret the various documentations and procedures in line with departmental, National and Notified body requirements.
**Key tasks and responsibilities of the post**:
Wash, inspect, assemble, check and pack surgical instruments. These include complex theatre trays, small procedure packs and single instruments and to take part in the ward distribution service.
The duties include the operation of washer disinfectors, heat sealers, air systems, computerized tracking system and sterilizers.
To take part in the ward distribution and collection service.
Maintain work areas in a tidy state and comply with Trust Health & Safety Policy.
All tasks to be undertaken in accordance with the department’s ISO13485:2016 Quality Policies and Procedures.
To comply with the Health Board Values.
Any other reasonable duty as requested by the Team Leader’s, Deputy, or Sterile Services Manager. To gain an understanding of how the team functions by providing support as required whilst gaining knowledge and experience and by undertaking training in the following:
