The post holder will have a remit to help coordinate maternity care for pregnant people with safeguarding issues, ensuring staff respond in a professional, kind, caring and sensitive manner. The post holder will support the development of current safeguarding systems within maternity services to ensure adequate communication of safeguarding issues to all levels of staff, escalating where necessary to ensure optimum care. The post holder will be expected to demonstrate leadership and specialist knowledge to all midwifery staff to ensure excellence in safeguarding is embedded throughout the maternity team. Facilitate discussions with the local authority supporting with information sharing between agencies ensuring to adhere to the Caldicott Principles.
Support the Named Midwife for Safeguarding and Vulnerable Families with implementing and maintaining a robust safeguarding supervision provision across the Trust maternity service that facilitates highly complex, contentious, sensitive and high-risk decision making. Attend child protection conferences (where necessary)/strategy meetings and other interagency meetings and/or supports practitioners who are required to attend. The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and promote safeguarding by implementing the Trusts policies and procedures, acting promptly on concerns, communicating effectively and sharing information appropriately If successful this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £41.90. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary
