**EMPLOYER DESCRIPTION**

Dover Museum is a local history and archaeology museum. Situated in the town centre of Dover, Britain’s historic port town, this modern museum tells the fascinating story of this rich and important area.

**DESCRIPTION OF VACANCY**

To assist collections manager with the documentation and review of the Museum’s collections. To complete the Business Administration Level 3 qualification as part of their apprenticeship.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the collections manager in the auditing and documentation of the Museum’s collections
- Accurately enter and process data on the Museum’s collection management systems
- Improving knowledge and data for objects in the Museum’s Collection to assist with Collections Review project
- Assist with review to the Museum’s collections documentation
- Work with volunteers under the direction of the Collections Manager
- Undertake and fulfil the requirements of the apprenticeship qualification associated with the role
- Assist with the setting up and taking down of temporary exhibitions
- Comply with and implement the Council’s Equality and Health & Safety policies and associated responsibilities
- Any other reasonable duties that may be required from time to time

**WAGE**
£267.14 per week

**HOURS**
Monday to Friday, 9:00 - 17:00 (Occasional weekends and evenings may be required.

37.5 hrs/per week

1 hour

1 day per week allocated for off job learning

20% paid time during working hours is given to complete training, referred to as “Off the Job Training”

**SKILLS REQUIRED**
- Good IT skills including Excel spreadsheets
- Experience of data processing and recording
- Good communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- At least six months experience of working or volunteering within a heritage sector

**PERSONAL QUALITIES**
- Willingness to achieve the requirements of the apprenticeship qualification
- Demonstrate an openness to new experiences and be keen to learn

**QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED**
- Undergraduate Degree in relevant discipline
- Full driving licence

**TRAINING PROVIDED**
On the job training with the employer whilst working towards the Apprenticeship Standard - Business administrators have a highly transferable set of knowledge, skills and behaviours that can be applied in all sectors. This includes small and large businesses alike; from the public sector, private sector and charitable sector. The role may involve working independently or as part of a team and will involve developing, implementing, maintaining and improving administrative services. Business administrators develop key skills and behaviours to support their own progression towards management responsibilities.
