Waiting Well Officer

Cromer, United Kingdom North Norfolk District Council Full time

**About The Role**:
North Norfolk is a fantastic place to live, work and visit - covering over 360 sq miles of coastal and rural environment, with a population of over 100,000 people living in 120 distinct communities, our District is one of England’s top holiday destinations and a place where people positively choose to live.

The Waiting Well project is a collaborative scheme between local authorities, The Norfolk and Waveney Clinic Commissioning group and the hospitals service Norfolk (Norwich and Norfolk University Hospital, Queen Elizabeth Hospital and James Paget Hospital).

Due to the Covid pandemic, there has been a significant increase in waiting times for orthopaedic treatments and surgeries, and with the demographic of North Norfolk being an elder population, it is estimated that the number of people awaiting surgery is significant.

This delay in surgery has had an impact on wider services, with the demand for further support from primary care and the voluntary sector causing further delays in other areas of service.

The aim of the Waiting Well project is to utilize data sharing, in order to provide a proactive service to the people of North Norfolk, offering support and guidance, whilst they await surgery. Data gathered from this project will also aid in identifying demand on services and the needs of individuals and communities in North Norfolk, through holistic discussions with those individuals on the orthopaedic waiting lists regarding their needs and concerns.

**About Us**:
We're committed to promoting equality of opportunity for the people and communities of North Norfolk. We respect and value difference in our district and across our workforce, and we want everyone to feel included and able to play their part in making North Norfolk a great place to live, learn, work and visit.

Our coast and environment are really important to us. We are part of Coastal Partnership East, an organisation with responsibility for our coastline from Holkham to Felixstowe in Suffolk. We have a net zero strategy, and a team of people working to deliver these important initiatives.

As one of the largest employers in the district, we offer a number of benefits that are open to all employees. We have a really supportive culture of enabling our people to learn and grow through attending courses, e-learning, and their day to day job roles. Our office in Cromer is clean, modern and light with onsite lunchtime catering.

We have an active health and well-being group with a new strategy, mental health first aiders, domestic abuse change champions, employee assistant program, and employee discounts portal.

We have a great forum for communication with regular updates from Directors and Chief Executive, employee voice through our Staff Focus Group, and great working relationship with Unison, our onsite recognised union.

Most people that work for North Norfolk District Council are able to enjoy a great work life balance, as part of our hybrid approach to work. If your role supports hybrid working, all we ask is that you have a stable and reliable internet connection.

In terms of the numbers, if you are new to the public sector, you’ll enjoy 24 days holiday per year plus bank holidays, and when you’ve been with us for five years, this increases to 29 days (assuming the role is full time). We provide access to a great pension scheme, based on your local authority career average earnings.
