Head of Delivery Assurance**

**£58,173 - £64,749 per annum**

We are building a brand-new Transformation team here at the London Borough of Havering. This role is one of two we are looking to recruit to and the other being a Head of Portfolio Delivery. Working with the Programme Transformation Director, this team will take the lead on the design and implementation of a high-quality project delivery function that will enable the council to successfully deliver its ambitious transformation work programme.

An expert in transformational change and an exemplary leader this role will provide technical leadership to ensure the Council has clear standards for project delivery and these are understood and applied effectively across the whole organisation. You will need to assure projects and programmes according to the Project Lifecycle and understand the value and importance of proportionate governance and a gated review process.

You will work closely with the Head of Portfolio Delivery, balancing the need for constructive support and challenge to drive up the quality of project delivery. And you will also operate beyond the boundaries of the Transformation team by putting in place capability initiatives for building stronger in-house project management capability for the whole Council.

Critically, experience of setting and assuring against project standards is essential as is putting in place interventions for raising the skills and capabilities of our workforce at all levels involved in project delivery.

Whilst a background of working within the public sector is not essential, understanding the complexities of a large organisation will be invaluable to you in this role. We will be looking for evidence of setting standards, assuring projects and contributing to the leadership of a new project delivery function. Potentially a step up in your career, your self-starter approach and ambitions to make a difference are prerequisite.

Havering fully supports flexible working; what’s more important is your ability, drive and commitment to get the job done. You will be fully empowered to manage you own working arrangements and expect to be in the office at the Town Hall for around 1 or 2 days per month for workshops and regular face to face team meetings.
