Ms Quality Improvement Coordinator

The MS Quality Improvement Coordinator will form part of a large-scale Quality Initiative to help deliver a 4-step plan of quality improvement of Multiple Sclerosis Care in BNSSG:

The postholder will work with the MS Disease Modifying Therapies Coordinator to help improve MS DMT pathways and processing by driving a governance overhaul to facilitate provision of quality assurance to key stakeholders.
The postholder will help develop novel approaches to the identification and mitigation of operational risks in line with the Trust’s Quality Strategy, NICE guidelines and the quality requirements of NHSE and the CQC.
The postholder will develop the Advanced MS MDT regional service, with primary-secondary-tertiary care integration and embed mechanisms to support National ‘Optimum’ pathways.
The postholder will report to the trusts Quality Improvement Team to ensure the service achieves the best outcomes and return on resource investment.
The NBT MS Service is one of the fastest growing in the UK for use and demand of disease modifying therapies - the postholder will work with the clinical and administrative teams to develop practical responses to a rapidly growing and increasingly complex service helping to embed effective and efficient new ways of working.
The postholder will have a responsibility in contribution to the clinical care of patients, through their timely receipt of potent immunotherapies. Whilst the prescription and administration of such therapies will be undertaken by appropriately trained and accredited medical staff, the purpose of this role is to help improve the quality of the delivery of such treatments.
If for any reason the postholder is aware of a difficulty or delay a patient may be experiencing in respect of their condition, its treatment or monitoring they will have a duty to ensure the appropriate team members clinically responsible for such are aware and sufficiently informed to act in a sufficiently timely manner to avoid harm and minimise risk of such.
The postholder will have a duty to report any concerns around service operation, patient safety or safeguarding they may have and have undertaken Mandatory Training directly on commencement of the role.
If the postholder is aware of any circumstances that may impair delivery of the planned Quality Improvement work this should be shared with a member of the line management team without delay.
The postholder will have a duty to keep their line management aware of progress on allocated tasks and be responsible for notifying of any operational challenges which be causing difficulty with respect to delivery.
This is a permanent, full-time position (37.5 hours per week, Mon - Fri).

The postholder will be required to contribute to progress reports (for other stakeholders) at the end of each quarter.
The postholder will be expected to be contactable during standard working hours and any working from alternate sites will need to be prospectively agreed with fair notice with Line management.
The postholder will have a responsibility to learn how to function effectively (in a timely manner) with new technological platforms to support service care and to share such learning with others in the team. This will be an intrinsic part of the job.
The postholder will have a duty to attend and contribute to service meetings and use all of their work time constructively and effectively to achieve the QI objectives.
