The Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities has established a new Spatial Data Unit (SDU), aiming to transform our ability to map and track local areas’ progress on levelling up and to understand how government interventions interact with places across the UK, at a local level. The Unit is focussing on:

- Build strong relationships across SDU, DLUHC, wider government and local government to help shape and leverage strong partnerships that support the delivery of wider SDU objectives.
- Report and advise regularly to the SDU leadership and DLUHC senior officials, clearly communicating the nature of the developments, the complexities and what is being delivered.
